What You Need Before Creating a New Venue

Gather the venue information before you begin. The venue is a regular WordPress content page, not a GigGizmo form, so you will need the words, links, and image used on that page.

Required Information

  • Official venue name
  • Complete street address, city, state, and ZIP code
  • Official website
  • Confirmation that this is the correct location when a business has more than one branch

Useful Information

  • Public phone number
  • Reservation or ticket-sales link
  • Map or parking information
  • Accessibility or entry information
  • Approved venue logo or photograph
  • A short description when the other venue pages use one

Check the Existing Venue Pages

Open one or two existing venue pages before building the new one. Follow the same editor, section order, image placement, and general amount of information. Consistency matters more than filling every possible space.

Verify the Source

Use the venue’s official website or direct confirmation whenever possible. Social profiles, old event listings, and map services can contain outdated addresses, phone numbers, or links.

About Images

Use an image supplied by the venue, included in an approved press kit, or otherwise authorized for promotional use. Do not use a tiny screenshot, social-media thumbnail, or photograph copied from an unrelated listing.

Send Complete Information

If you hire me to add the venue, send the information together in one email or form submission. Researching “that brewery outside Richmond where I play Friday” is billable work and may delay the schedule update.
